Unfortunately the team did fail to come to an agreement with the 2nd round pick and will be adequately compensated in the 2020 draft. This year the strategy was largely to take the best player available with a focus towards starting pitching. Last year the plan was to attack the organizational weakness at catcher with numbers. Joey Wents (21) was pitching in AA Mississippi before an abdominal injury sidelined him and his 6+ ERA. The early results were pretty good, but hitters seemed to have figured him out.
